ABOUT US
We came here from Argentina In 1997 but are originally from these very parts, the Karst lands of Trieste and Gorizia in Italy and of Slovenia. Our forebears emigrated to South America, some between the two World Wars and others after the Second World War, while we returned to Europe at the beginning of the country’s financial crisis.
The company started business in 1999, based on beekeeping. We had around twenty hives and were producing honey.
Later, in 2001, we planted our first vines. It was a vineyard of Terrano grapes, on a family plot of nearly one and a quarter acres in Slovenia. Two years later we started making wine for the first time in our lives.
In 2006 we added a second vineyard, of similar size but this time in Malchina, with Vitovska and Malvasia grapes.
Then, in 2008, we began rearing pigs (six of them to be precise) and making salami sausages. We are now rearing fifty a year.
Then in 2010 we decided to open our doors for the first time and opened an osmiza (a temporary farm shop / restaurant) to sell our products. We were open for about thirty days that year and fifty nine the next, the maximum permitted as an osmiza.
Since 2012 we have been open for a further 30 days as an agriturismo (farm restaurant), serving cold dishes while, as from 2016.
By 2015 we had about five acres of vineyard, half of which were in Slovenia, growing both white and red grapes.
